Yes, undoubtedly.  The course was written on the assumption that the person using it has no or little knowledge of notarial work.  Many of our learners have had no, or very little, exposure to notarial work.  This need not be a deterrent. It is sometimes an advantage to realise how little you know, rather than to assume that the mere fact that you have some exposure is sufficient to get you through the examination.

Since Covid-19 we have made three study options available:

1. In view of the complexity and huge volume of the work we recommend that you register for the online course. During this course, our lecturer will explain the work and guide you through the study notes.  You will also have the benefit of interacting with the lecturer, for example by asking questions.  (This option is for people who would like to receive study guidance in the form of lectures.)
2. However, if attending the online lectures is not an option, you may choose to receive the recordings of these lectures.  This is in fact a very good alternative to the online lectures.  The advantage of this option is that you can listen to the recordings at your convenience at any time of the day or week.  (This option is for people who would like to receive study guidance by following the recordings of the online lectures.)
3. The self-study option is exactly what the name implies.  You will receive course notes which have been designed for independent study and for people who are unable to or prefer not to attend either the online lectures or receive the recordings.  (This option is for people who do not need study guidance and are prepared to study on their own.)

Each option will offer you adequate support in preparing for the conveyancing examination.  It all depends on your circumstances and preferences.

We recommend either the “online lectures” or the “recordings of the lectures” as equally valuable options.  Both options will accelerate your learning and improve your understanding of the work.  The lectures will make your studies much easier because we guide you through a lot of information and explain difficult concepts. In the lectures, we also direct your attention to important aspects of the material.
2. However, if you feel confident about studying on your own at your own pace, the self-study option is also sufficient to enable you to pass this exam.  In fact, the course notes were originally developed for home-study purposes and have helped many candidates to pass over the years.  The lecturers are just an additional tool for those who want guidance, as explained above.

Yes, it is possible because our notes are excellent.  Our attendance course is note-driven rather than lecture-driven.  This means that during the lectures we guide you through our comprehensive set of notes.  However, after the lectures, you will still have to work very hard to prepare for the examination.

We achieve great success with this method.  The fact that the online course is presented online in five sessions makes it possible for people from various parts of the country to attend the course.

Learners make this a week of intensive study in preparation for the examination.

Yes, there is constant change in the field of notarial practice.  Each year the notes are updated at least once.  If you have registered for any of our courses, your name will be placed on our database, and you will be notified when an update becomes available.

Our course notes are popular and are used as a guide by many practitioners, even after they have passed the examination.  After passing the notary examination, you can still update your notes regularly and use them in practice.

This depends on individual ability and on the amount of time each person has available for preparation.  This will differ from one person to the next. In our opinion, a comfortable and realistic period to allow for preparation for the exam is between three and five months.  It would be to your advantage to enrol as soon as possible and start studying the notes even before you attend the lectures.  It should be said that a lot of people have had less time to prepare and have still passed this examination.  It depends largely on your commitment to passing.
