"I am currently employed as a Deceased Estates Administrator at Voogdy Trust (Pty) Ltd in Stellenbosch.
I obtained my Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University, of which I remain a proud alumna. During the course of my studies, I achieved 18 distinctions, which reflect the level of dedication and discipline I have always applied to my academic and professional journey. I was also fortunate enough to be inducted as a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society.
After obtaining my degree in March 2023, I commenced my articles in June 2023 at Roos Incorporated in George. During my articles, I mainly attended to the administration of deceased estates, as well as trust-related matters.
Following the completion of my articles and my admission as an attorney in August 2025, I was fortunate enough to be offered a position as a Fiduciary Attorney at Roos Incorporated, which I accepted. Shortly thereafter, I was presented with another exciting opportunity at Voogdy Trust (Pty) Ltd in January 2026, where I currently find myself further developing my passion for fiduciary law."
On enrolling at the Gawie le Roux Institute of Law
"I initially chose Gawie le Roux in 2024 when preparing for my Ethics competency-based examination (CBE). Chané's notarial exam tips
- "Start preparing early and study consistently. You can never begin too early or put in too much preparation for these examinations.
- Focus on understanding the legal principles rather than memorising notes word-for-word. A proper understanding of the work allows you to apply your knowledge effectively in practical scenarios.
- Practice your writing beforehand. This is advice that is often overlooked. The examinations involve extensive drafting, and writing fatigue can become a real challenge. My hand cramped during the exam because I did not spend enough time physically preparing for the amount of writing required."
On facing challenges
"While preparing for my notarial examination, I experienced several personal and professional challenges. I had recently relocated to Stellenbosch and started at a new workplace, which was a significant adjustment. Being away from home left me feeling homesick and emotionally overwhelmed at times.
I also struggled with my health during the preparation period. I often felt exhausted after work and found it difficult to remain motivated to study in the evenings.
Fortunately, I had an incredible support system, especially my boyfriend, who motivated and encouraged me every step of the way. In order to manage my studies effectively, I disciplined myself to wake up at 03:00 every morning to study before getting ready for work at 08:00."
"It was undoubtedly difficult and exhausting, but every time I felt like giving up or pressing the snooze button, I reminded myself that hard work eventually rewards those who persevere — and thankfully, it did."

What's next?
"I am currently preparing for my conveyancing examination. I once again purchased Gawie le Roux’s notes. If all goes well, I hope to be admitted as both a Notary and Conveyancer this year.
In addition, I am planning to apply for my LLM degree at the North-West University in the near future. One of my biggest motivations in life is the desire to build a meaningful legacy. I strive to continuously challenge myself, grow professionally and academically, and one day have a long list of achievements and qualifications behind my name that reflect the hard work, dedication, and perseverance I have invested throughout my journey."
