Customise your CV
Tailor your CV's introduction to include the law firm's name and position you're applying for. This ensures a personal touch, especially when a cover letter isn't required for the application.
Personalise your cover letter
Research the law firm, their values, and practice areas. Only apply if you genuinely align with their mission and values. This will help you invest a significant amount of time in your applications and could result in a successful interview.
Email (necessary documents & requirements)
Law firms receive hundreds of applications. Ensure you highlight how your experience aligns with the job requirements and only attach the documents the law firm requested. Make sure that even your email stands out.
Prepare for interviews
Use your research to prepare thoughtful questions and showcase your interest in the firm and its practice areas.
Follow up and persist
Keep track of your applications and send follow-up emails, even after the deadline. My persistence led to an interview opportunity and securing articles!
